We had a wonderful time. We rented yep canoes and received instructions and encouragements.
It was easy to find the landing place to park our cars, and Rich was waiting there with a small bus to take us to the launching place. We had no problems with the equipment and the couple of quick instructions he gave us on the kayak (how to adjust the seats and foot rests) were all that was needed.
Rented with little outlaw, turns out the rest of my group booked with Brewers instead. Didn't realize the mistake till we arrived at the river. My fault completely, however outlaws was unwilling to give anykind of refund. We bring a group of 15 to 20 people every year. Customer service may be something worth looking into. Go with Brewers awesome experience, awesome customer service.
We've rented kayaks at least 4 times over the last 15 years from Little Outlaw and always had a fantastic experience. Our last trip was even a fairly large group, and everything went smoothly.
Our group had a blast and took our time floating downstream, stopping to see all the waterfalls. We took a little longer than expected, but Rich and his wife were very nice about it. If anyone I know ever wanted to kayak the Niobrara I'd definitely recommend Little Outlaw.
Minimal instruction and guidance given for this experience. Be prepared to mostly figure things out on your own when they have shuttled you to the point where you enter the water and start tubing. When our 4 hours was up (this appears to include the van ride out of town to the river) we returned to find no one there. This was concerning because we had signed a rental agreement stating we would pay money for each tube and life jacket lost. We waited 20 minutes and still no one came. So, we called the company's number. No answer. So, we disconnected our tubes, yanked them all up out of the water and drug them up to the storage area. Then, we called again and left a message. I certainly hope that they do not try to claim we lost or broke something, for we did not. In all, tubing was a decent experience. Too pricey for what it is, though. Could be much improved by an actual instruction session at the river with each group prior to departure. And, having someone to meet us, help us and our small children out of the water, and put the equipment away-ensuring all accounted for.
We dropped out vehicle at the end of our trip and were then given a ride to the starting point. Absolutely gorgeous and beautiful trip. Highly recommend!
