We travel Highway 20 often and have always wondered what this restaurant was like, so we stopped on our last trip.
We looked at the various reviews of the restaurant on Google, Trip Advisor, etc, but decided we would be our own judge of the food.
I applaud this establishment for opening this restaurant in this rural Nebraska town. They seem to have following, but did not do much for me.
Bad news was that the food is basically American Mexican food. Food had good flavor, but was nowhere close to real Mexican food.
My wife ordered the tostada with beans and rice. The beans were obviously canned and not authentic.
Food was served quickly and with generous portions, which was the good news.
Open for Breakfast at 7am . Home made Biscuit and Sausage gravy only Homemade in Town besides the Local Food Truck
Preface: we grew up in western Nebraska where the Mexican food is delicious and plentiful, so we feel we have good taste when it comes to this food.
I ordered the "Sample Platter" with a tamale, enchilada with green chile and hard taco with rice as my side.
The menu looked pretty authentic with the usual Mexican food fare. When waitress returned to take our order we asked what was on the "smothered" burrito. She replied, lettuce, sour cream and olives...we knew this was not an authentic Mexican food establishment.
Service was good as we were served immediately, but had to pay $2.50 for the usually complimentary chips and salsa offered at other Mexican restaurants.
Wonderful mexican food for podunk town. The people r awsome. Stop by and enjoy a huge burrito
Milo and Max is now open for breakfast with a limited selection of eggs, toast, breakfast meat, breakfast burritos, huevos rancheros, and homemade fresh baked biscuits and sausage gravy (full and half orders) as well as home cut hash browns (yes, freshly made in-house), and always available dessert, so you should be able to find something for your meal. Generous portions of tasty food served quickly and hot (a definite plus imho) by friendly staff, and moderate prices as well. You can order a la carte, too, for smaller appetites and kids. Prices from 75 cents for one egg cooked to order to the full classic breakfast for $7.00. Yes, there's strawberry shortcake available --sometimes!
Love this place. Great food and lots of it. Really friendly staff. Awesome Hamberger's.
I do not want to negatively review this place. The food was plentiful and actually tasty, just not real Mexican food.
Upon entering the restaurant we found few tables available. We were early on a weekday (11:30) and were able to find a seat immediately, but it filled up quickly.
