I have been floating and camping 12 years there. Indoor plumbing and hot showers. Lee has never been rude to me
BEWARE!!! The owner doesn't communicate well. He acted as though he didn't care about the deposit we sent and continued to ask me multiple times the days we were coming up after I had told him in an email, over the phone, and in writing with the check for deposit as requested. This is no joke, and I started to wonder if he was scamming me after he continually acted as though the check didn't come in. So what happens? We notify him the week of we're cancelling because we still didn't have a firm reservation acknowledgement (i.e. he still hasn't provided any details about where we're staying). What does he do? Cash the check anyway on the day we were supposed to come up, you know, the day he knew nothing about...well the joke is on him because we put a stop payment in. I can truly thank other reviewers for leading me to be this cautious and save myself the headache of dealing with this poor business owner.
Overall, enjoyed the family time but not a great experience with the cabin or NRR customer service. Now I need to fumagate and rewash everything to ensure I didn't bring any roaches home with me (wonder what Lee will think if I send him a bill for Terminex)!! Pretty scenery. Helpful staff. Fun time on the river.
We were told it was a working ranch and there were horses to ride. That was incorrect as we drove two hours to the Badlands to ride horses. When we asked him if he knew of anyone local, he acted like he had never been to the area!!
Not that we planned on using it much but we did ask about wifi and we were asked by Lee what we needed it for.
Really kind of disappointing. Had 14 people. Wanted to charge us for 18. Over charged us by $72. Waiting to see if we get reimbursed. 7 towels to last 3 days. Guy who collected was extremely rude after we just wanted to tell him he had bats in the roof (we were not complaining,) just wantef him to know). Mold in the bathroom. Cobwebs in the. Ceilings. Drivers were great. Will never go back tho. Elk ranch was way better & prices better. Been to Niobrara for 20 years, very disappointed with this stay.
We asked repeatedly for a key to the cabin and were given one but it didn't work. We did return one day, from a long day of horseback riding, to the final bill inside the cabin on the table...kind of creepy to think Lee was inside without us being there.
At first glance it appeared it wasn't too bad of a place. There were 11 of us staying in the Pine cabin. Later on during the first day, we see exposed wires, broken outlet face plates, single light bulbs hanging from the vaulted ceiling and in the refrigerator. In addition the smell of urine in one of the restrooms, and our new pet mice and cockroaches. We also had bats outdoors but they weren't eating much so we didn't worry about them. We expected nature to remain outdoors or at least a response from Lee, the owner, acting as if he wanted to take care of the critters indoors.
We had fun tubing on the river one of the days however, Lee offered us extra tubes (as if they were just laying around so take them) then charged an additional $70.
Our electricity ended up going out due to storms and we received no follow up to emails or calls made by us simply seeing if it was the norm during storms for electricity to go out and/or it had been reported. We decided we weren't going to get anywhere with Lee so we contacted the local power company. Luckily it had been reported and the crews were working on it. After three short hours of playing Family Feud by flashlight and harassing bats, our electricity came back on.
We assumed the group prior to us "vaselined" the door knobs as we had 3 or 4 that were coated.
